I guide the Southern New Jersey waters from Atlantic City to Cape May with great fishing just minutes from the dock so none of your valuable fishing time is lost traveling. Striped Bass season runs from April through November, but it does have its variations. Spring offers great daytime fishing and some of the best water clarity of the season with good size fish in great numbers. April and May are your first opportunities to log your first keeper bass of the year on fly with early May also kicking off terrific sight fishing opportunities. During the spring it is not uncommon to run into large Weakfish and Bluefish on these same flats offering some exciting bi-catch fun.
June, July and August offers anglers a wide variety of methods to choose from Sight fishing and top water fishing remains consistent during the daytime on the shallow water flats with sunrise and sunset offering anglers their best shots at the largest fish. Mid summer also offers some unbelievable night fishing. With boat traffic almost nonexistent, the Striper fishing often becomes fast and furious with fish averaging 5 to 20.lbs caught in as little as 10 inches of water .I do recommend practicing your casts during night time hours prior to the trip
September, October, and November During the fall migration, large schools of Bass are on the tear throughout the backcountry and flats with reckless abandon offering exciting top water action and truly world class sight fishing opportunities that will make even the most avid angler weak at the knees. With the best water clarity of the season; Daytime, nighttime, sunrise, or sunset the fishing is red hot. This is peak season and advanced booking are highly suggested. Trust me on that
December my attention goes south for the winter to the lower Florida Keys were I continue guiding full time. Though it is not peak season there is more than enough action to be found in the keys during the winter, for even the most demanding angler, and half the amount of boats. I focus solely on sight fishing for, Tarpon, Bonefish, and Permit, on both the Atlantic and Gulf side flats from Big Pine Key south to Key West. This service runs from January 15 - April 15. Lodging recommendations available.
Specialized trips are focused around peak migration times in the lower Florida Keys. May and June the much-heralded Tarpon migration is in full swing. Southbound fish steamroll from Miami to Key West while others move from the Gulf northward up the coast. Besides the giants pushing and exceeding the 100.lb mark, juveniles- from one foot " kinglets" to 50.lb teenagers will provide great action in the deep secluded backcountry. This time of the season also offers great Bonefish action also as well as Permit start to make an appearance. July and August offers peak time for sight casting Bonefish and Juvenile Tarpon on the flats both on the Atlantic and Gulf side Backcountry flats
